Trip Leader & Wilderness Specialist
Adamah Adventures seeks a Trip Leader & Wilderness Specialist who is charismatic, energetic, engaging, creative, and dynamic. This person will be responsible for co-leading the adventure trek and for leading all outdoor activities, including backpacking trips, hiking, and campsite set-up. In addition, this person will insure that all outside guides and outfitters comply with Adamah Adventures policies. While on the trek, this person will also be the lead medical staff.
Minimum Qualifications*:
- Minimum 2 years experience in outdoor adventure and wilderness activities.
- Experience in programming or leadership positions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to lead, manage, supervise, and inspire campers.
- Ability to plan, organize, and carry out all wilderness activities.
- CPR & Wilderness first aid certifications.
- Passionate commitment to Jewish teen experiential education.
- Ability to work as a team with a co-trek leader.
Responsibilities:
- Camper and staff well-being.
- Act as support, mentor, and guide for campers.
- Day-to-day logistics/schedules, activities, and programs.
- Work with the Adamah Program Director to make sure that all wilderness activities are well-planned, executed and evaluated.
- Evaluate all programs and curriculum at the end of each session and make recommendations to the Director for future seasons.
- Maintain communication with camp Program Director and contact Program Director when problems arise related to backcountry, wilderness activities, etc.
- Lead all backpacking trips and day hikes – work with the group to make sure that all campers feel comfortable and supported.
*While no single requirement is necessary, a successful Trip Leader and Wilderness Specialist will likely have the previous qualifications.
