Itinerary:

Sunday Depart from Atlanta at 9am.  Travel to Stephen Foster State Park.

Monday sbt_alligator.jpgNamed after songwriter Stephen Foster, this remote park is a primary entrance to the famed Okefenokee Swamp and is one of the most intriguing areas in Georgia. Moss-laced cypress trees reflect off the black swamp waters, providing breathtaking scenery. In the morning, you’ll learn about the service project you will be working on all week. In the afternoon, explore the scenery of the park on a pontoon boat tour around the state park.

Tuesday In the morning, you'll continue your exploration of the swamp by train!  Take a step back in time aboard the “Lady Suwannee” of the Okefenokee Railroad. In the afternoon, the service project will continue.

Wednesday sbt_horses2.jpgYou'll head to the coast, and take a ferry out to Cumberland Island, Georgia's largest barrier island.  Pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches and wide marshes allow plenty to explore on your day trip to this great island.  With a little luck, you'll see the famous wild horses during the hike.

Thursday Put the finishing touches on your service project before spending one last afternoon exploring Stephen Foster State Park. End the day with a sunset canoe tour to Billy’s Island. Watch the sunset over Billy's Lake, listen to owls, see bats fly overhead, and watch herons coming in to roost. Once the sun goes down, see the stars come out and catch a glimpse of our neighboring planets.

Friday Trek concludes.  Return to Atlanta by 3pm.
