The weekend will include adventure activities, a festive Kabbalat Shabbat service, singing, stories, and s’mores around the campfire!
Saturday's adventure activities include:
- hikingHike along the Foothills Trail toward 50-foot Hidden Falls. Yellow blazes on the northern red and chesnut oak trees along the trail provide direction as you wind along the hillsides of the Blue Ridge. As you walk, you will be entertained by the rippling sounds of Tamassee Creek. When you reach Hidden Falls, take a minute to relax and cool your feet in the cool water of the creek.
- geocachingReady for a treasure hunt?? You’ll be looking for a geo-cache (in the shape of a paint can!) hidden along the Oconee State Park Lake trail. Hike with an experienced geo-cacher who will explain how to use a GPS (Global Positioning System) to find the hidden treasure. If you're lucky, you might see one of the many species of wildlife that call this park home.
- fishing*Feeling lucky? Cast a line in and see if you can catch one of the bass, bream, catfish, or trout that live in Oconee State Park Lake. Please note, Adamah Adventures has a limited supply of fishing tackle - please bring your own if possible!
- canoeing or pedal boating*Situated in the Blue Ridge Mountain region of South Carolina, the lake at Oconee State Park is a great place to take in the scenery of the surrounding hills. Enjoy a quiet paddle around the lake on either 17-foot canoes or fun pedal boats the state park provides. Feeling lucky? Cast a line in and see if you can catch one of the bass, bream, catfish, or trout that live in Oconee State Park Lake. Please note, Adamah Adventures has a limited supply of fishing tackle - please bring your own if possible!
- mini-golfWhen's the last time you had a chance to play 18 holes? Of mini-golf of course! Challenge a family member or new friend to a friendly game of mini-golf. Winner gets bragging rights the rest of the trip!
Sunday's off-site adventure activities include:
- whitewater raftingHead to Long Creek, SC (30 minutes from Oconee) for some of the best whitewater in the southeast. Full-day rafting trip on the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River with a guide in each raft and lunch on the river. Section III of the Chattooga is the perfect trip for novices and family groups. For more advanced rafters, try Section IV for nonstop heart-pounding rapids! Minimum age is 8 for Section III and 12 for Section IV. Trips are run by Wildwater LTD Rafting. Wetsuits are provided.
- zipliningHead to Long Creek, SC (30 minutes from Oconee) to enjoy a thrilling morning in the trees. This three-hour experience gives you over 1/2 mile of air time with: 4 bridges, 10 zip line sections between trees & elevated platforms, and 4 Academy Lake crossings with an optional wet zip. The Chattooga Ridge Canopy Tour is operated by Wildwater LTD. Minimum age is 10.

The Details
When: Friday, May 4 - Sunday May 6, 2012
Where: Oconee State Park, Mountain Rest, SC, about 2 hrs from Atlanta or 90 minutes from Asheville (Get Directions from Google Maps)
Cost: $129 for adults, $89 for children ages 4-14, free for 3 and under
What's included: All meals, lodging in tents, camping equipment, evening activities, guided hikes, geocaching, canoeing, fishing, mini-golf, arts & crafts
Additional activity fees (per person): $75 for ziplining, $93-$98 for whitewater rafting (prices may change based on the number of participants)
Registration info: Please register online by April 25. Cancellations before April 6 will incur a cancellation fee of $25/person. Cancellations between April 7 and April 14 will receive a 50% refund of their base fee, and a full refund of their activity fees. No refunds will be given after April 15.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What should I pack? A. A packing list will be sent out with other final details on April 15. All group camping equipment will be provided. If you need to borrow sleeping bags or sleeping pads, please call us in advance as we have a limited supply.
- What are the meals like? Are they kosher? Do I have to cook? A. Just bring your appetite, and we'll do the rest! Meals will be healthy and hearty, with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Our food is kosher-style. If your family keeps kosher, let us know your level of observance, and we'll make sure we can meet your requirements.
- Who leads the activities? A. The Adamah Adventures directors, Adam and Bobbee, along with our Assistant Director, Susan, will lead Kabbalat Shabbat, cook your meals, and lead the hiking, canoeing and geocaching. Our partners at Wildwater LTD will lead the whitewater rafting and ziplining.
- Do I have to choose activities for the whole day on Saturday? A. No, you're welcome to hang out with your family, read a book, or just enjoy the mountain air.
- Does an adult need to accompany a child during the activities? A. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- What will the weather be like? A. Average highs in early May are in the mid-upper 70s and lows are in the low 50s. There is a covered pavillion at the campground where we will eat some meals if it's rainy. Activities may be modified due to inclement weather.
- Is transportation provided? A. No, you are responsible for your own transportation to Oconee State Park, and to the rafting, and ziplining sites. The lake and some trailheads require a short walk.
