Blue Ridge Discovery Trek Itinerary
Rising 7th graders: Your Adamah Adventures Summers begin here!
DAYS 1-2: BASE CAMP OUTSIDE OF ATLANTA, GA
Spend two days getting to know each other, playing team building games, learning outdoor skills and wilderness first aid, and joining in camp-wide activities.
DAYS 3-4: BACKPACKING ON THE CHATTOOGA RIVER TRAIL NEAR CLAYTON, GA
For your first adventure, you will leave the van behind and experience the simplicity of life in the backcountry. Away from civilization, you’ll be able to focus on the amazing scenery and really get to know the other people on your trek. Along the trail, you’ll play games, splash in the river, and watch for wildlife.
DAY 5: ZIPLINING IN NORTH GEORGIA
Get ready for a thrilling day riding through the trees. Your zip tour will include thousands of feet of ziplines and skybridges as you cross over scenic lakes and rivers. Prepare to have your breath taken away.
DAY 6: SHABBAT CELEBRATION IN UNICOI STATE PARK, GA
Shabbat is a time for rest, relaxation, and re-charging. Campers will join together with the other Blue Ridge Mountain teens to create a meaningful, communal experience. You'll be staying in the Squirrel's Nest campground at Unicoi State Park, enjoying one of the finest sand beaches in all of Georgia!
DAY 7: WHITEWATER RAFTING ON THE OCOEE RIVER, TN
Get ready for 5 miles of nonstop whitewater excitement. The famous Ocoee River was home to the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Competition. As you paddle through a scenic gorge in the Cherokee National Forest, you’ll experience Grumpy, Double Trouble, Tablesaw, and the awesome Hell’s Hole, just to name a few of the thrilling rapids.
DAY 8: BIKING IN THE CHEROKEE NATIONAL FOREST, TN
The Cherokee National Forest is home to more than 80 miles of bike trails. You’ll start on some beginner trails, with the option of trying something more advanced as the day goes on.
DAY 9: SNORKELING ON THE CONASAUGA RIVER, TN
Did you know you could go snorkeling in Tennessee?? The Conasauga River watershed is one of the most biologically diverse river systems in the United States and is home to more than 90 species of fish. After putting on a wetsuit and mask, you'll spend the day floating on your stomach watching endangered species such as the logperch, the amber darter, and the blue shiner.
DAY 10: CAVING OUTSIDE OF CHATTANOOGA, TN
Take a break from the hot sun as you go underground to explore the vast network of chambers, canyons, and tunnels at Raccoon Mountain Caverns. As you walk, crawl, and climb over, under, and through a rugged maze of varying rock, you will get a little dirty and have a lot of fun.
DAY 11: ROCK CLIMBING AT ROCK TOWN ON PIGEON MOUNTAIN, GA
There's nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment you get when you reach the top of a climb. You'll spend the day with the professional guides from Granite Arches. They will teach you the basics of rock climbing in the outdoors: movement on rock, knots, and rappel techniques. Whether you've been climbing your whole life, or the most climbing you've done is up the stairs, there will be something to challenge you at Rock Town.
DAY 12: HIKING NEAR PIGEON MOUNTAIN, GA
For your last adventure, you'll hike to a beautiful waterfall, and then spend some time splashing around in the chilly Blue Hole natural spring.
DAYS 13 AND 14: BASE CAMP AND CLOSING CEREMONIES
At the very end of the session, the entire Adamah Adventures family will return to Base Camp to celebrate all that has been accomplished. The adventure concludes with a final Shabbat celebration and closing campfire ceremony.
