Happy Earth Day!
I'm writing today from Lenoir, North Carolina. I spent this morning touring an outpost camp that is owned by the North Carolina 4-H camp system. They have stopped using this facility, and are looking to lease it to other interested groups. The location is beautiful and is surrounded on 3 sides by the Pisgah National Forest. There is a small lake with canoes on site, and opportunities for whitewater rafting, canoeing and great rock climbing within a 30 minute drive. There are two camps on the property, each sleep 32 people in platform tents and cabins. There are primitive toilets and showers, kitchenettes, fire circles, and covered pavilions at each of the two camps. I'm going to take another look at our Blue Ridge Mountain trek itinerary, and see if there's a way we could build it around this site - it really is perfect for us!
Tomorrow I head out for a 4-day Outward Bound course near Asheville. I'm excited to see how they run their trips...I'll send an update early next week!
Also, we have begun working with a design firm, Point of Vision. We will have a new name in the next couple weeks, and then a new website soon after that! Stay tuned...
