Food
Great food is part of any outdoor adventure. It is the fuel to keep you going and keep you happy and it won’t take campers long to figure out that everything – breakfast to burgers -- tastes better when it’s cooked over the campfire.
And campers learn this first hand as they take part in the planning, shopping for and cooking of the meals – just like a family. Our meals are nutritious and well-balanced meals, and there is always a vegetarian option available. Please check with us about food allergies - because of our small trek group size, we are often able to accomodate special diets.
Kashrut: We recognize that some of our campers keep kosher, and some do not. While we know we won't meet everyone's needs, we do our best to accomodate and validate many people's kashrut choices. We never serve pork or shellfish; we never mix milk and meat in the same dish, and we never serve a dairy desert after a meat meal. We always have kosher meat at our base camp, and we buy kosher meat during the trek when it's available. When it's not, we offer fish or vegetrian options.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I send food with my camper? A. Please don’t. There will be lots of delicious, kosher style food available to our campers. In fact, campers have a real say in planning and preparing meals so they can shape what they eat. With this hands-on approach, Adamah Adventures can accommodate any eater – vegetarian, vegan, carnivore or just plain picky.
- What if my teen doesn’t really know how to cook? A. They will by the end of the summer – at least the basics – how to grill a burger, scramble an egg, or plan a meal. All a camper needs to help cook is the desire to learn and clean hands. We’ll take care of the rest.
