Activities
At Adamah Adventures, we offer teens the chance to take on a variety of outdoor adventures in a supportive environment designed for safety and success. And there is more to gain than just the rush. Teens often come away with a greater confidence in their ability to achieve goals, a willingness to attempt new challenges, and an appreciation for what they can achieve as individuals and as part of a team.
RAFTING
Teens experience the adrenaline rush of whitewater as they take on sections of world class rivers, such as the Chattooga River, along the Georgia/South Carolina border. On the river, teens use specialized rubber rafts that are sturdy and flexible and are guided by rafting professionals from the most respected guiding companies in the business.
ZIPLINING
When ziplining, teens strap into a secure harness, clip to a cable, and then zipine across a canyon, down a mountain or soar above the tree tops on a world-class canopy tour like the one at Historic Banning Mills – which features two miles of cable, bridges, tree houses and three wonderful towers with several places over 200 feet in the air.
CAVING
When caving, campers walk, crawl and climb over, under and through a rugged maze of varying rock formations like those found at Raccoon Mountain. As they explore the vast network of underground chambers, canyons and tunnels, they have access to truly awesome scenery that few ever see.
ROCK CLIMBING
Teens get a new perspective, literally, as they climb in areas such as Georgia’s famous Rock Town. While climbing, campers wear helmets and harnesses, and are supported by safety ropes. All climbing is led by professional guides who are trained and certified by the American Mountain Guide Association.
HIKING
Teens hike in a variety of locales — from the well maintained, wooded trails of the Southeast to the rocky terrain of the American West. As they leave the van behind and travel on foot, they come upon streams, mountains, and a variety of wildlife. Occasionally campers get the chance to backpack, to carry their homes on their back and to be truly immersed in the wilderness for days at a time.
CANYONEERING
When canyoneering in locations like Zion National Park, campers draw on a variety of skills including splashing through streams, scrambling over boulders, and rappelling through waterfalls into cool pools below. All technical canyoneering is guided by professionals trained and certified by the American Mountain Guide Association.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How are your activities different from other outdoor adventure programs? A. We carefully design our itineraries with your teens in mind. Every trek includes a wide variety of outdoor activities. While some adventure programs spend the majority of their trips hiking and backpacking, we put more of an emphasis on adventure sports, such as rafting and rock climbing.
- What happens if it rains? A. A light rain will not affect our plans – hiking in a summer rain can be wonderful — but a heavy downpour or electrical storms could mean a change in plans. If there is seriously inclement weather, we are prepared with alternate sleeping arrangements and indoor activities that could include going to a movie or doing a community service project.
- What will my teen need (in way of equipment) to participate? A. All group gear, such as tents and cooking equipment is provided by Adamah Adventures. After you register, you’ll receive a detailed packing list that explains everything your teen will need to bring to camp. The packing list includes information on where to find certain clothing and gear. We know that outdoor clothing and gear can be expensive; so, we strive to keep your cost as low as possible, and can loan certain items if needed.
- Can a camper opt out of an activity? A. While we encourage campers to at least try every activity, we will never force any camper to do something that makes him or her uncomfortable. We recognize that campers have different comfort and experience levels coming in to each activity. Whenever possible, we offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced versions of each activity. For example, when rock climbing, we setup multiple routes in the same area, allowing campers to climb to their comfort level. If a camper doesn’t wish to climb, they can help belay, or cheer their fellow campers on! If you have questions about a specific activity, please contact one of our staff members.
